As soon as the first sniffle of the cold and flu occur, most people make the mistake of pumping their bodies full of unnecessary medications. The truth is the body is completely capable of healing itself. That is why our bodies came fully equipped with one of nature's greatest armies, the immune system. If you want to fight cold and flu, the best thing to do is strengthen your army. How does one strengthen the immune system? Simple, all you need is to sleep, drink water, eat healthy, get plenty of vitamins and cut out nasty vices like drinking and smoking.

Perhaps the most important factor in treating the common cold or flu is rest. Not only does adequate rest strengthen the immune system, but the body restores itself while you sleep. Lack of sleep can make it harder to heal. Unfortunately, the horrid symptoms associated with the cold and flu can make it difficult to get the rest you need. Chamomile tea is a great way to help the body relax and aid with sleep. Simply squeeze honey and lemon into your chamomile relax and dose off. The honey, an antimicrobial and lemon, a great source of vitamin C work together to help heal the body while you sleep.
